Yep, he had to do it at the elbow itself relying on the newer tires and hoping for the Vantage not to squeeze him against the wall, and not on the descent like all other cars do in Mt. Panorama; even if the Porsche had a better exit from the Elbow the Vantage's big engine gave it an advantage going down the mountain.

Thought I would fall asleep before the final hour and was drifting off a little before the final round of pit stops, and then I snapped awake. What a superb race. I only saw about 8 hours of it in total, but the final hour was among the best last hours of endurance racing I’ve seen. I’d love to drive that gorgeous Bathurst track one day. So marvelous to be able to see races like this on livestream these days.

The winning car just over twelve hours earlier, Dirk Werner being interviewed in the pre-dawn dark. What an outstanding race with great driving by Matty Campbell to finish it off

Interesting Fact for those that do not no much about the Mt Panorama Bathurst Circuit ,,,,for the majority of the year it is a public road with Dual carriageway and a Max speed limit of 60kph around the entire track ,,you can go and drive around the circuit like any other public road in Australia .....Word of warning for those interested in a visit ,,,stick to the speed limit as the local Police make a killing booking every want a be race driver who decides to see how fast he can go around the famous track .....
