Seat Mount Example
Hey All;
Food for Thought here. Just thought I would post these in case it might offer some good ideas for those looking at trying to mount a race seat EFFECTIVELY. If you've tried, it aint easy!
This is in my 84 944 Track Beast.
This is the floor with tar pad and stock seat mounts removed (they had broken and failed!) In my vertically blessed state, I need all the head room I can get. I removed the stock front x-member to get it lower and fabricated the mouting frame from 1.5x.125 angle iron. The rear rail is from my previous mount version. All is thoroughly welded to the floor pan and side sills.
This shows the JAZ Products double locking seat rails in place. These are cheap and strong and work very well. The only "problem" is that they are too short for stock mounting.
Here are the seat tracks bolted to my new Kirkey Road Race Deluxe. The side plates on the rails are fabricated from 3/16" steel and welded in place. Plenty of fasteners here!
