I've been a bit remiss in giving updates...though part of that was the back and forth with paint vs. powder coat then scheduling the paint, etc.

So it went to paint last week.
We decided to change the color a little...make it a bit deeper and richer. So we went to 1975 Laguna Blue, instead of the original pale Olympic Blue.
We REALLY like how it came out! All the pictures make it look darker than it really is, but its really nice...still gonna do the dark blue section like before.

Here it it is in the paint booth.

Then we decided to put bedliner type undercoating on the bottom and wheel wells. Our tracks down here have a lot of sand and kicks up rocks and all, so the wheel wells get beat up pretty bad (as you can see from some of the pictures before it was media blasted).

we put the suspension on yesterday so it could roll.

I realized that I never updated this thread...

A lot has happened since my last post in January.... let see...
  • Fabricated a new carbon fiber dash repositined switches, radio, etc.
  • Installed all oil and fuel lines, fuel cell, oil tanks/coolers, etc. to get ready for engine/trans
  • I spent a week at Dawe's Motorsport getting the engine and trans installed, sorted, adjusted, dynoed, etc.
  • Installed everythying that was in it before, routed wires and hoses in a much cleaner manner than before
  • Installed a new AiM MXL2 and Smartycam GP system with sensors we never had before
  • Installed a Lifeline Novec Fire Supression system
  • Relocated the CoolShirt system
  • Then this past weekend we finally had a chance to shake it down at CMP during an SCCA Time Trial.
I could post up dozens of pictures if anyone wants to see them...but here's a quick video that covers the build and a lap at CMP. Lap was slow - REALLY old slicks (like 50+ heat cycles) and I'm still getting used to the shorter gear set. But everything worked perfectly. This was a shake down weekend just to prepar for the VIR race.

Thank you everyone that PM'd and commented to me about Papa Smurf - we are really happy with the final outcome and will be doing real testing this coming weekend at the PCA race at VIR in the Vintage Group. Stop by and say HI!

One thing I wanted to note: we are one of the very few vendors that actually still race/drive on track and use the products we sell. And while yes, working on the car and racing/driving takes away from the focus on building NaroEscape Motorsports, the racing is why we got into this to begin with. I personally feel that if you're going to sell something, you should use it whenever possible. Of course we can't use EVERYTHING we sell, but the things we choose to use are IMO some of the best products we represent. So...in Papa Smurf's build, we have:

Data: AiM MXL2, Apex Pro
Video: SmartyCam GPHD
Seat: Cobra Suzuka Pro-Fit
Harness: Schroth Enduro
Window Net: G-Force
Steering Wheel: OMP
CoolShirt
Fire Suppression: Lifeline Zero 360 Electric Novec
Kill Switch: Cartek
Brake Pads: Carbotech
Brake Fluid: Motul 600
Fuel Cell: Fuelsafe
Mirrors: Longacre

Driving Suit: OMP
Helmet: Roux
Gloves: OMP
Shoes: GForce

....I'm sure other stuff I'm not thinking of...

thanks for the interest in following our build...and hope to see some of you at VIR this coming weekend!

I think we need to get you, Steve, Rob, and I all at an event together! That could be some serious fun. Plus, I want to see your car in person.
