Default Transmission Damage

I have a strange question and I don't want to provide too much information about why I'm asking it at this point. Has anyone ever heard of suspension modifications damaging the internals of an automatic transmission? The modifications I'm referring to include sway bars, drop links, rear toe control arm, two way adjustable dampers and slightly lowering of the car.

Which dealer is telling you this?

Highly doubtful. About the only way would be messing up shaft connections and that is very unlikely too.

Sounds like somebody has a transmission problem and a derpy dealer/warranty representative saying "duh, the car's been modified."

Unfortunately, it's not the dealer but rather Porsche N.A. I'm going to fight this legally which is why I don't want to get into too much detail.

Magnusson Moss Act protects you against just such rubbish. The systems are independent and get treated as such under warranty.

only way suspension work could damage a gearbox is if you lowered the car and now hit speed bumps with it.

No, but recently had a transmission issue on my 991 and do not want to post details here. Send me a private message with your contact information and I’ll call you.

By the way, I’m a Florida-licensed attorney. Even if you hire different counsel, whatever you tell me may be considered privileged and I am unable to share with anyone else.

GTGears - I'm well aware of it but thank you for mentioning the Magnusson - Moss Warranty Act. For others who may be interested, related to the Act is an FTC Alert dated December 2010 where they elaborate on what standards the warrantor must meet in order to legally decline a warranty claim due to the existence of after-market parts.

Use of adjustable control arms to add camber on the rear of a PDK Cayman can allow the drive shafts to slip out of the gearbox. I suspect this could cause damage.

Why don't you just return the car back to stock and take the transmission problem to another dealer. These transmissions are expensive.

I believe it's been a problem before more on CV joints, not transmissions themselves. That's why they used to flip gearboxes in cars like the 935.
