Porsche Air-Cooled Cup USA Series

All but 1 E car at Sebring is a 911. The other is a boxster that is not a podium car. So no loss there for competition. And he can convert to spb.
The idea here is to save the old 911s in pca - SC, Carrera, and 964 - by grouping them together.

Is this a different group/series from the Vintage Aircooled group in the other thread, or the same? Little confusing with 911, aircooled, vintage, cup wording in the group titles.

Vintage is totally separate.
911CUP is a new spec series for 911 SC, Carrera, and 964 - formerly stock letter class cars (D, E, F, G) with BOP thru weight adjustments.

Questions:
1) do (all or any) of the D 911 drivers want to switch? They already have a Spec class, although numbers are low, never really understood why?
2) do (all or most or just a select few) E class 911 drivers want to switch? If the fast drivers switch the mid pack guys may want to stay and win a few class races.
3) how long will the 2.7 Boxsters and remaining 944 drivers stay in E if the class size gets cut drastically? Or will they be happy to have a better chance to win if the fast 911 drivers switch?
4) if the F & G 911 drivers switch will the remaining F & G drivers with even smaller fields leave have even less fun and look for other options?
5) will the D 911s be able to be easily adjusted by weight so they have a chance at winning?
6) will it change the run group the cars race with? And if not, how will it really improve the racing if still having to deal with the slow in the corner fast in the straight fast class cars?
At least for a while it may just split the cars across one additional class.

Air cooled cars.
I have a fundamental problem with people that wish for a smaller class so that they have a better chance of getting a sticker. How is that racing?
There are next to zero 944's remaining in letter classes. At least here in the NE. I know of one 944 Turbo moving to G.
I am in a F class 911 this year. I will stay in F this year regardless, but only due to special circumstances. Without those I would immediately change to the new class to compete against better drivers.

Hey, I just posted some questions. However, I am fine with folks choosing to participate in whatever class they enjoy the most. After all it's their hard earned $s being spent.
I am just glad I chose E class when I started. It's been a great class to race in, with some of the largest fields, and it's been fun racing cars in class but with different strengths. Made for a lot of fun racing from my perspective.
However, in the end you race against the cars that are around you.

Let's face it, letter classes are dying. The last big letter class is E. And is almost all 911s. Haven't seen but one 944 in E in the last three years.
Very few 911s left on other letters.
So let's bring them all together with a simple weight adjustment.
Now we can have more in-class competition with new 911CUP

Maybe it's time for PCA to start combining letter classes by adjusting "stock" weights. Yes we end up racing the cars around us and that is why were racing in the first place. But it would be nice to know that your platform could actually be competitive to start with. As it is, many are weight/power penalized out of the box and it's not fun when you start with that handicap in addition to the talent penalty. Whatever happens, Club Racing will still be a blast and a tremendous bang for the buck
