With the demise of the pca letter classes, we have been kicking around the idea of a new 911 class to include all 911 D, E, F, and G cars. Balance of performance through weight, all other previous letter class rules still apply.
We just ran in 2018 our inaugural 911 CUP series, with Hoosier sponsoring free tires, for 911 E class cars only.
The idea is to expand the 911 CUP to include the other 911s up through the 964 - D, E, F and G.
Last year it was a 5 race weekend series.
In the future we'd like it to be a new pca class - 911CUP - and be a national championship covering all pca races.

1. Drop the weight requirement way down
2. We have tested the spec tire we have proposed to PCA which is cheaper than a R7, lasts just as long.
a. Less wear on our chassis, no cracks to fix at the end of the year
b. Taller profile so less wheel damage when jumping curbs
c. Brake pad wear has been less which means less heat generated, less cooling issues

I thought that this was already possibly in the works, looks like Clarke will take the lead on this.
Agree w/ StuJelly above on all points, brakes last longer, less wear on the chassis. Let’s make this happen!

When I started PCA Club Racing in 1993, I was using my modified 914-6 DE car. In those days a lot of us had modified DE cars..so when Club Race started these cars with limited interiors and modified engines fell into the GT class based on engine displacement. Fast forward 15 years,,I bought a 964 and built a car similar the Alban "Wonder Bread" 964. Moving forward to today, these "alphabet cars" have basically moved to the old GT cars..on interiors, no passenger seat, no headlights..so maybe it is time to reevaluate the Alphabet " stock" classes to what they are actually representing today.

993 not going to be in 911CUP.
D, E, F, and G 911 cars only.
Existing rules for stock- D, E, F, G still apply EXCEPT weight changes (this is so all existing cars can run as is without spending any money on new parts/modifications).
The only rule change will be WEIGHT (trying to figure out a simple weight reduction for each letter, but G stays same).
The spec tire will be one tire, the Hoosier R7 (not the TD nonsense).
Trying to make this series easy for all D, E, F and G 911s to run together in single class without modifying their cars. Removing big steel plates should be easy.
There will be ONE big stock-rules class - 911CUP.
911CUP will be a national championship series.
Will be working with Hoosier on tire contingency (free tires) like we had last year (TBD).

Why no 993s? They are air cooled the last time I checked.

The more models that you include the more complicated the BOP calculation becomes. To keep things simple the primary way to balance power will be to add/subtract weight. I don't think people would enjoy driving a 993 with 400 lbs of lead where the passenger seat was.

Given that the 996/997 and 987 plus the current rules have basically killed the 993 as a G or H car, I think you should consider allowing the 993 into this class so it has a home where it could be competitive since as we all know, it is the last of the air cooled cars.
