Macau Crash...

I wonder how far she would have actually flown if not for the photography stand.

Fractured spine but conscious, she has been on social media stating she is ok but going for surgery tomorrow. Could have been much worse...

Holy CRAP!

ProCoach 11-18-2018 09:55 AM

Damn... that place is made for disaster. But, the tradition continues. Hope she’s ok. Laurens Vanthoor had a big one, too.

Yup, I was in Macau last year and regret missing the race by just a few days.

Was a gong show too if I recall... I rode a bus on the circuit and that seemed pretty much fast enough for the narrow streets...

Best,

Matt

You know, it's pretty much every year there's some type of huge pile up or crash at Macau, whether it's Porsche Supercup or otherwise. And every year there's talk of they should stop racing there...

Cringe-worthy. Very lucky the car didn't take out the people it flew over. In real time it looked like a bullet.

Beyond frightening. I hope the 17 year old makes a full recovery.
I agree that Macau is a friggin disaster.

That's an understatement!

So, the cause ostensibly was that the corner station downstream from the contact accidentally triggered the yellow flag board for a moment, then shut it off. The car in front of Floersch braked while she was fully committed.

The local driver in one of the Prema cars was right behind the whole accident and said there was nothing she could have done...

Just horrible. Looked more like complete brake failure -- car was flying much faster than the rest of the field. Or perhaps it went airborne over the brake-check car in front so never had the chance to brake. Open wheel racing on narrow walled streets is a recipe for disaster. I know, Monaco, but still...

OMG, that is crazy.

Wow, crazy indeed. I hope she fully recovers and gets back to racing. I read she was linked with the Mercedes-AMG F1 young driver program.

She is that. Very talented behind the wheel.

Akunob 11-18-2018 08:14 PM

OMG! Looks like a brake failure of some sort. Hope her surgery goes OK
