From the analysis of the incident: “The speed-trap figure before the Lisboa braking area shows that she was travelling at 276.2km/h (171.6mph).”

It would have been Le Mans 1955 all over again. Not a good thing!

171+ mph?! It is truly astonishing that no one was killed.

She had a 7 hour spine procedure today and is moving all limbs. Outstanding.

As for the other people injured, it is just a sheer lottery that they weren't in a slightly different spot where they may have been struck fatally.

The speed of her car relative to the rest was unreal
im still having a MAJOR issue wrapping my head around how lucky she is (and everyone else down the street) . rough calculation of the gs is off the charts.. that little building saved her. that car could have taken out an entire store and shoppers . that's like small jet on a high speed low pass flying down a crowded downtown street.

And it looks like her head hit the empty space between the top and bottom wall of the building, furthering her luck. Amazing.

Not AFAIK, but the loggers do have accident recorders in FIA International events, which this is.

Here's another angle looking back down the straight. She had made contact and was out of shape well before the corner, hence her backward slide. Pretty terrifying at that speed. I hope she makes a full recovery. She has a promising future and I'd love to see a female in F1 soon.

Direct hit on that poor guy in the stand - I bet he is the guy all busted up in the hospital and very lucky to be alive. He didn't even have time to flinch.

From this video it looks like she scrubbed some speed off of that 170 MPH estimate, thankfully

Wheel to wheel contact between open wheel cars usually makes at least one of them go airborne. When that happens at 170mph, it becomes a projectile. This is why open wheel racing and narrow streets with hard buildings behind low armcos don't go well together.
