Question about Tire debris on Rims
Can the hardened tire debris that cakes up on the rims cause a rim to get out of balance? Should I try to remove it in between sessions. I noticed a lot of vibration that seemed to come from my right front wheel on my .2 GT3 during my last session of the day. The only thing I noticed when I inspected was a lot of caked on rubber from the day on the rim. I am running Hoosiers and Track rims. The Hoosiers are done and will be replaced before my next event. Obviously I will have rims cleaned and rebalanced. Any thoughts or experiences? Thanks

Most often its clag/rubber on the tires surface that causes the vibration. It clears away quickly depending on temps and how hard you are running. If between sessions or tire changes as others mention clean tires with screwdriver or on wheels it can usually be wiped off.

Tip: To avoid pickup on your tire surface, make sure you stay on the racing line during your cool down lap. Stay on the racing line until the last moment before exiting the track.
I can't tell you how many times I have seen people driving over all the clag on the cool down lap.....

Never said it comes off easy, but screwdriver works fine for me all the time. Careful with a knife, might take off more than wanted, but we're all looking for lowering car weight !
