Hurricane Cancellation?
The Coastal Empire Region PCA has a DE event scheduled for this weekend at Roebling Road near Savannah. The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rains and winds approaching 40 mph for the Savannah area. So far, the event organizers have been silent...leaving the nearly 100 participants slowly twisting in the wind. Someone will have to make some tough decisions very soon.
Weather model forecasts have trended south -- in an unusual way -- w/storm hovering off the North Carolina coast by a matter of miles ... looping/stalling and then making landfall much farther south...almost directly over Savannah.

If track is operational and not offering to refund rental, not sure what choice any region would have.
Cancel is one thing, refunds / credits to drivers If rental fee is not returned / credited could be the key factor.
Communications would be warranted / helpful, even if no decision can be yet made.
Hope all stay safe.

We sincerely apologize for not getting the word out until mid-day on Wednesday. We were indeed waiting for confirmation from RRR on several topics including the potential for rental refunds, and availability of emergency personnel should the event proceed.
As soon as we received confirmation from the track staff, we did our best to notify everyone of the cancelation.
Hopefully all our friends and family in NC stay safe!

Having personally known people responsible for cancellation decisions for track events when the weather gets dicey my advice is to cut them some slack. The decision is not easy as it is not just about the conditions at the track itself, but he conditions the participants may have to travel through.
In the end, it is just a DE.

Thanks to the Coastal Empire Region, I've enjoyed many a track day at Roebling.
It's unfair and unkind to call them out, when the OP is not even on the roster.
Especially considering that these organizers are just ordinary people facing a massive hurricane, and are in the midst of preparing their homes and families' safety as their FIRST priority.
Courtesy isn't limited to track days and face to face situations. It's also part of the comportment of sportsmen/sportswomen OFF track, and amongst our online community.
One wonders what possible good comes of using the forums for calling out or otherwise accosting the track organizers, fellow drivers, or "friends."
In the end, it's just a DE.
Etiquette is never passé.
