Black Sheep Racing is in its second year of campaigning the Pirelli Trophy West series. It's quite a step up from PCA club racing, but it's still amature racing. It's somewhat similar to PCA's Trophy East series, now that PCA is embracing the 911 Cups. My teammate Laura and I got a chance to see the VIR Trophy East race and we noted some key differences. PTW is fully supported by Porsche Motorsports with a parts truck and Porsche Motorsports engineers present at every race. PTW has two 35 minute sprint races per event. TE also has two sprint races, but adds an enduro. Both series have a podium ceremony with trophies, but I must admilt, the TE trophies are much nicer.
We had two cars in the event; Laura Ely in a GT4 Clubsport and Mark Davidian in a GT3 Cup. Here is an article about this past weekends race at Circuit of the Americas:
Great write up! It was indeed a great weekend. The series is run very well and there is always close racing to be had. Great that we got a write up in racer magazine as well.
