Default A typical qualifying session in the Pirelli World Comedy Series...

1 out lap w/ traffic, 1 time by, 1 in lap. Was called for track limit violation in the last corner on the single timed lap and lost the lap (even though I did what was explicitly permitted w/ photos! in the drivers meeting the day before). Qualifying session was red flagged when I exited the final corner on the 2nd lap so I came into the pits. Never got to go back out and started race #1 from the last row w/ no qualifying time.

Here's the literal slides from the drivers meeting they showed us (same as previous race at Mosport where they took the photos):

Tires on the painted curb ok. Inside tires over the painted curb, not ok. It's not physically possible to get the Audi R8 over the painted surface in the final corner at Road America without going onto the grass. I don't think I touched the grass the entire weekend and ran the same line every lap (give or take a couple inches).

That sucks. Your lap looked fantastic, with no signs of exceeding track limits. Very strange.

Wait until you guys hear about the expertly driven McLaren with the 10 mph speed trap advantage. See all those apexes Mike nailed? Miss all those but still win the race!

Great flying lap, despite being compromised on your entry onto straight
I don't understand what they have issue with?

That was exciting in Canada Corner.

Lookee here... your right rear must have been over by one nanometer!

Is it possible you got called for the exit of Canada?

A lot of discussion about the track limit rule enforcement as of late.

This is not a new rule, correct?

I spoke with Brian Till a few minutes after the session and he told me it was for the last corner and that I was doing it every lap of every session -- which I was, because in the drivers meeting they said we could have our inside wheels on the painted curb.

How did he respond when you reminded him of this fact?

It wouldn't be appropriate to say in public... But, I do have a lot of respect for him and he understood why I was so frustrated after we spoke.

The "emergency" drivers meeting Sunday morning where they made all of us sit in a circle was even more entertaining. First time I had ever seen a Finn yell in a meeting.

Aside from this how do you find your experience with PWC? How many races do you run?

I have been considering running in a PWC race at LRP in the next year or two if I can find a seat.

I think PWC has the ingredients (format options, great teams and driver lineups) to have one of the best sports car racing series in the world -- but they continually screw it up. I keep trying to support them, but at the end of every season I wonder why I bothered.

I'm doing all the Sprint and Sprint X races this season. I won't be spending as much as I did this year to return next season, so I'll probably be in another series for 2019.
