Yeah but last time you tried to give me a six pack it wasn't for a pad change. Weird.

I have the same tool and it's great on the Carerra S calipers. No paint damage or risk to tear the dust boots.

What is the reason for needing this?
You go thru an entire set of pads in a weekend ?

Ar a heavy braking track—think wgi- we might have used but adequate brake left for the first day of an event, but not for two or three days. No reason to toss pads when they aren’t thin, and sometimes that means replacing In between days at an event.

Considering a WGI weekend is a $1000+ weekend, I'd gladly toss the pads and get new $50 set to avoid the headaches (and risk) or changing pads at a remote location.

If you're using $50 pads, they might not last the weekend😀

A fresh (two) pair of Pagid RS29 'Yellows' is about $350.
I must have missed the $50 pads.

Makes no difference if i change a pad in the garage at the glen or the garage at home. Why would i throw away $50 or $100 of good friction material?

A large pair of Channel lock pliers is the fastest, most reliable spreader I've used. Put the plier end between the pads laying on the rotor parallel to the caliper, and then open the handles, which forces the pads back. It puts the force down low on the pads where you want it, unlike the clamp-style spreaders that can cause the pistons to bind up. You just need to be careful not to let it slip by putting some downward pressure while opening the handles, or place a rag first to protect the paint if it does.

$50 gets you a set of OEM Textar/Jurid/Pagid.
Perfectly acceptable for certain drivers
