Carnet for cross-border race cars MOSPORT race
For those of you doing cross border racing or DEs, especially if transporting someone else's car, a Carnet simplifies the process.
Carnet = passport for a car. We have used them for 2 seasons now and the border is a breeze.
Pretty simple form, buy a bond (costs @ 400-500 for the average race car) and then pay the carnet fee. Standard Carnet is good for 12+ months, so if you set it up early spring then you're covered for 2 seasons.
Here's the US info:

If anyone wants to do a temporary import bond (TIB) for border crossing then please contact PCA racer Michael Beler at mbeler-at- bilsi -dot- com
Cc his employee Jeremy at jmotley -at- bilsi -dot- com
They will broker race cars with a TIB for a flat rate of 250 Canadian for PCA racers/members.

I am unsure why this is required if the race car, trailer, etc.is owned by the person transporting it. I've traveled to Mosport no less than 10X over the past few years without a sniff from customs. Either direction. I do have a excel based "list of goods", which covers the bulk of the large items in my trailer.
Has something changed that now requires 400-500 bucks to ensure event free border crossing?

If you are towing your own trailer, race car, gear.... then a reasonable common sense manifest (we've NEVER been asked for one but carry it anyway) and ownership for your race car will suffice.

In 20 years of crossing the border into Canada I've been asked for paperwork once. Returning to the US they wanted to see some proof of ownership and the PCA logbook was all it took.
