Need Suggs for activities near WGI
So I've convinced my girlfriend to join me at the Zone 1 event at WGI next month. This is her first time accompanying me to an event and she is decidedly not a car person lol.
Anyway, I'm trying to make it a nice trip so she'll agree to join me at future events.
I'm looking for recommendations for where to stay and sights and activities as well as restaurants she might enjoy.
Thanks for the help

Corning Museum of Glass is way more interesting than it sounds.
The Gorge trail is gorgeous (no pun intended).
There are tons of wineries on the route along the lake.

That might be true, from the Watkins Glen State Park website:
We went around Mother's Day a few years ago and had no problems.
Alert 10/31: The Gorge Trail at Watkins Glen State Park is now closed for the season. An opening date will be set for mid/late May depending on how much clean up is needed and weather conditions.

Stay at Harbor Hotel if you want to stay in Watkins Glen. If you stay in Corning, then one of the chain hotels should be fine.
Geneva - about 45 mins up the lake has a outlet shopping center.

Glen Harbor is the nicest hotel in town. Get a Lakeview room for her.
There's hiking, wineries, and the glass museum for starters.
Not sure if she likes to gamble, but Tioga Downs isn't too far away, and it's a casino, not a racino. Table games and all.
Good luck......

Great suggestions here. The Harbor is the nicest hotel until you get over to Corning. Corning is a nice little town and has a little more than Watkins Glen does downtown. If she won't have a car, rent her one so she can get around. The glass museum is great, lots of wineries (Glenora is a great dinner), there is a schooner ride on the lake as well as a site seeing boat ride. The hike into the Gorge is great if it's open.
Make sure to say high. I"ll be in Garage (the yellow 914).

Ithaca's a funky little college town with lots of shops about 20 min away.

All great ideas. Naturally I am amused that no one mentioned the Seneca Lodge...worth going to eat there once but I would not advise staying there with her.
She will have a blast.

The Seneca Lodge Bar is a must. Ask to see the Notebook containing all of the old F1 pictures. Forget the food. I like the Glen Mountain Market and Bakery for breakfast sandwiches and takeout lunch. For dinner in town I like the Wild Flower Cafe/Crooked Rooster Brew Pub. Also, owned by the same people, Nickels Pit BBQ is good. If you venture into the wine region, try FLX Wienery for lunch. +1 for the Harbor Hotel if bringing a significant other. I stay at the Falls

If you are driving from the east or south, Tioga Downs is now a full casino.
Skaneateles N.Y. is a nice place to take her, great old place called the Sherwood Inn.
BTW , there is a brand new place in Binghamton , just opened Saturday, Bada Bing cheesesteak and Spiedie (local Binghamton delight, skewer charbroiled lamb, pork or chicken)

I haven't been there for quite a while because my wife rarely goes to the track but The Inn at Glenora Winery is nice and close to the track.
