Can I remove the AC compressor???? HELP
Can the AC compressor and bracket be removed in a “Stock G” club racer? Different opinions coming about this topic. Looking for at “G” racer with the answer…

No opinions needed, it CANNOT be removed for PCA STOCK classes...no way, nodda.
If your model came with AC, it must have at least the compressor/brackets installed, although the system does not have to be hooked up and operating...belt can be removed as well. Hope this helps, I went through the same issues and take the compressor/brackets off for NASA racing. :D |

For the 911SC, the AC was an option on the early cars, which is why they let you take it off. One of the nice things about G is in it's original form in '78, it was a pretty minimalist car: no sunroof, manual windows, no AC, manual seats etc. So you can remove all that stuff and actually have to add ballast to bring it up to 2550 lbs, the legal weight.
As a concrete testimonial since again you are getting conflicting direction: At Mosport last season the whole G car field went through scrutineering. There were numerous small violations, but no one was written up for no AC. Brandon |

I know I went through this with my 911 C2...apparently all the models sent over to the U.S. had AC, unless it was an RS America or a Cup car, which those run in D class, mine was in F now E...but I run "prepared" in D with Big Reds, etc. Yup, sometimes the rules are confusing, but I am allowed to run without the AC belt! :D Reesestew, I'll try yet another answer to one of your questions, involving is the 1982 treated as a 1978 in regards to the rules. From what I have gathered, it is. You are allowed to do anything within your model series that was on say another year in that series. I have a 1991, but in 1992 the 964 changed to "Aero" mirrors...therefore I am allowed to dump my "Flag" mirrors and put on "Aero" mirrors, same with the rear two-piston calipers, in 1992 they went to four-piston in the rear, so I can do the same. :) Hopefully THAT was helpful?? :roflmao: ...I'm learning by the day! :rolleyes: |

While we're on topic let me ask you about the front area, under the bonnet. I have the fresh air blower and the hoses (GREEN Area) I don't have the components that cover the other area (RED Area). can that area just be sealed off from the cabin or do i need to install those pieces? I also have the cardboard cover that goes over the equipment.

If we're talkin' Scruts looking at your STOCK class racecar, just have the front carpet in...I doubt they'll be looking underneath...but regardless, I would seal those areas up...look on the PET CD and find the plugs that surely accompanied a non-AC 911. :)

All the SC's can remove the A/C, it was an option for one or two years early on and it got extrapolated into all SC's can remove it. A/C was standard on all Carrera's, therefore they must have the A/C and all its components. Wouldn't all of this just lead to weight issues. However, on second thought, I suppose I'd rather have ballast bolted to the passenger floor than hanging out over the tail.
