Default Tire sources

For street tires I've used tirerack.com extensively. However for DOT competition tires and slicks, I'm finding stock can be more limited and the community seems to be familiar with vendors I haven't heard of. For example, I just stumbled upon https://philstireservice.com.

I wanted to suggest we compile a list of competition tire vendors. What vendors have you been happy with?

Trackdaytire.com is slightly cheaper than TireRack for A7 and R7 and they will issue you a "sponsorship" code for an additional 10% if you let them know who you run with (e.g., PCA). I don't know how good or bad they are overall. I used them once and got fresh tires on time for a lower price. But they were delivered to my billing address and not the shop so that was a pain. A few people in NER use them I think.

It's somewhat dependent upon the tire you're looking to purchase. If Pirelli slicks then Frisby Performance Tire at Las Vegas Motor Speedway would probably be your best bet. If Yokohama slicks then Trackfast Motorsports in Arizona: trackfastmotorsport@yahoo.com

For Hoosiers try http://hoosiertirewest.com/

I appreciate the responses and will be using this as a reference in the coming years.

Don’t forget Audrey! Steeped in experience and as knowledgeable as her father. Bob is a pretty good racer, too. That counts for a lot in my book.

Audrey not there anymore. Bob Woodman has good service but we had a snafu at Sebring where they forgot my tires. Fell between the cracks with Andrey transitioning out and Drew taking over her role. They were apologetic. There was a lot of momentary drama (!) but I ordered tires from Tirerack which got delivered next day air. Tirerack did an awesome job from a service perspective, and the Woodman guys mounted them without charge to make me feel better (worked).

I get better service from a local Les Schwab tire shop. In fact, all my local racing Buddies are going to them now. I negotiated a tire price on Toyo RR's (our NASA spec tire for NP01 and other classes) after letting them know how many tires I go through a season. I receive a way better price than any of the companies mentioned above. Best part, no shipping, no mount/balance cost and they take TOYO BUCKS! They have grown their business big time.
