Default Which Nomex Driving Shoe has a thickER right side ?

My old Nomex Pilotis had a lovely feature that I've not seen recently on racing shoes: The right side sole on the right shoe was thicker, and thus more durable to the wear and tear of heel-toe shifting.

Anyone seen such a shoe recently?

I've looked at some models of OMP and Alpine Stars but didn't find any with this feature. Would appreciate any leads. Thanks.

I had a pair of Sparcos a few years ago that did, but I don't think that specific model is being made any more

May have to either bodge something or see your local shoemaker......

This is why I've stayed with my old Stan Smiths for the last 15 years or so, even though they're pretty shot--Adidas discontinued them but now I see the originals (with the thin hard sole) are back so I got a pair right away.

I bought some new shoes since my old ones had a slight tear at the foot. I went off track first time out (because in my mind the new extra grip prevented me from making a good heal toe). Now they are back in my equipment bag. It's hard to part with old shoes. Mate I'll try again in 2019.

I've found Oakley shoes to have the thickest soles.

Default Oh Happy Day!

Thank you for all the info.
Thundermoose, thanks especially. I wrote an entire essay about saying goodbye to my old Pilotis. I loved them so much and they took 3 years of beating before conking out--at least 40 track events total.

The input here prompted me to search (for the thirty-millionth time) the interwebs looking for Nomex FIA certified Pilotis....and, it turns out, they ARE being manufactured again!
Complete with super thin soles and super fat side lip...this time on both right and left shoes.
Check it out:

Notice the lip on the external edge of the shoe? This is very durable for HT shifting, but the sole of my old shoes was really thin and allowed great pedal feel. Hope the newer ones will do the same.

The newer model also has a thick edge on the left shoe, something that was not present in my old pair.

Loved my old Piloti DTM's wish they would make them again
