Alonso sees Daytona for the first time

First time was my first solo lapping day. Rookie mistake. Early apex leading to early exit on grass, compounded with error bringing car onto tarmac. Hit inside wall between 3-4.
Second time was in the rain, crossing dry line with wheel slightly turned, lost back end of 996 on (worn sport cups) into tires on outside exit of 3.
Lots learned from these sharp bites!

Yep, it's that kind of track.....but there's nothing like the vibe after a day there when you were fast and your car is straight
Eleven great days there last year, and hopefully more of same to come

I was never an Alonso fan until recently....always thought of him as a whiner. How he's handled the Honda debacle (with class) and his willingness/desire to race "outside the F1 box" has me really rooting for him. He's not approaching any of this new stuff with a "I'm a two time F1 champion, bow down to me"...more like "Hey guys, this is sooo cool! I get to race cool stuff..show me how!"
Gotta respect the humbleness he's shown.

However i started liking him when he joined Ferrari. Since then i have been a fan.
Looking back, of the top drivers currently in F1, he's the least whiner. IMO.
His commentary while driving should win him awards alone.
