they fail. had had 2 fail ove rthe last 7,8 years. granted the subscription is a few more bucks, but if they update the technologies or features, etc. for like 100/year its worth having. i remember 4,5 years ago selling used ones for 125, 150.
400, 500 is bitcoin stuff.

Usually, the Power leads fail on the old TranX transponders. People repair them for about $50.

I've paid $300-$400 for these for the last several years, since before they changed to the subscription format. The T&S folks really don't like people switching these back and forth...

One went up for sale on TrackHQ.com last night at about 11:00 for $450 but it was sold by the time I saw it at 9:00 this morning.
