AC Hydraulics is the way to go if you can stomach the price. Can't remember the model I have, but the saddle is under 2" high, its super low profile and its lift height is 39".

If you are going to be hauling it around to the track with you the Arcan is a great choice, if its going to stay in the garage and you are ok with the price you cant really beat the AC Hydraulics

I've had the 3T Arcan jack for 9 years. Indestructible... change the fluid every couple years.

So I went straight down the middle...

I got an Arcan high lift version.. Its steel and 104lbs... Not exactly portable... It will live in the garage, and the HF will go to the track with me...

The Arcan arrives tomorrow (Sorry UPS)... Let see how it goes..

New jack arrived today... And all I can say is "where have you been all my life"

This thing rolls like butter, lifts quickly and is Uber stiff... I love it.

Matter of fact I think I'm changing my plan of keeping the old HF for the track and buying the arcan aluminum one.

I think they are still heavy based on the bulging muscle (bicep? ) shown in the pic.

In the past I've noticed there is a little bit of a placebo effect when buying the slightly more expensive one as people really like to hate on HF.
I don’t disagree with the placebo effect - and the Harbor Freight can be had a lot cheaper. Side by side you can tell there is a significant difference. The Harbor Freight version is like the creepy Rob Lowe version, or a pair of Mike’s. They do look quite similar from 10 feet away or on the internet.

Using them elaborates on the story. Granted, it’s just a jack. But then cars are just cars too. I am able to justify the extra expense for safety but in all honesty I’ve never had a jack failure.

Bringing this thread back from the dead in this holiday season...

This Arcan 2-ton jack This Arcan 2-ton jack
seems to have gone on sale @ Amazon. I've been tracking the price. For many weeks it was $279. Last week it went down to ~$240. Now it's down to $154.55, so I just pulled the trigger. It gets very good reviews and is mentioned in this thread, above, although it is NOT portable. I think it's close to 100lbs. It's got a very low saddle and I believe it will fit into a JackPoint jackstand.

Why dos the link go to Walmart with a big fat "Sorry" in the middle of it?

Why would you buy a 97 lb jack to jack up a car? Unless you have other uses for it, this doesn't seem to be very practical.

I've got the Harbor Freight version of this BEAST. It works fine, but like others have said. It is ridiculously heavy which is fine because it never leaves the garage.

Because it's on wheels and will never leave my garage. I bought it mostly for the fact that it has a very low profile and will fit under my car under all circumstances. Sometimes I'll be swapping my track wheels on or off and I can't get my current HF jack under the car (or it gets trapped underneath) with the JackPoint plate. I have to re-lift, place a few bricks under the rear wheel, drop it back down, remove the JackPoint plate, lift the car again, remove the bricks, and set it back down to get the lift out. That's a pain in the butt. It's worth $150 to me to get a lower profile jack, even though it's heavy.
