Does the Solo2 do predictive timing, and if so, how is it displayed? I have a RaceKeeper, and the red/green "bowtie" display that tells me if I'm behind or ahead of pace is genius. I can catch the color out of the corner of my eye and I don't have to really look at the display at all. Are the LEDs on the Solo2 involved?

Yes, it does predictive time. I haven't seen the programming, but I'll try to this afternoon, but they have said the LED lights will be available for predictive times.

I do know that will be a central feature for the Solo (progressive lights for predictive time).

Will the company allow for a trade-in option? Hate having electronics sit or go to waste.

AiM won't, but dealers can. I would for my customers or anyone buying one from me.

I am quite confident that there will be a robust market for used units.

Wait, let me edit that -- they will be virtually worthless, yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. But if you mail them to me I'll keep them safe and warm.

This sounds like an opportunity for RL vendors; especially in conjunction with a GB including S&H to and from.

People need to realize that the information logged and channels recorded on current Solo DL's is just as powerful as the new release.

The old unit is NOT obsolete, it's current, shown on AiM's website AND going to be supported for some time.

Until the new unit is even here, which will be several months if history is any guide, there is no imperative for getting rid of current equipment, for anyone that has a Solo DL.

I'm glad to take trades against the new equipment for people that bought their trade in from me. But I'm not telling people who HAVE a Solo DL that they need this new release anytime soon.

I'm definitely interested in a Solo2 or Mxm, with the compelling reason being the new data format support as an enabler for video integration.
Of course, there are many incidental benefits.
Thus, until RS3 is released with video integration, the upgrade does little for me and I shall wait.

Wise plan.

Any info on the Solo 2 Wifi?
What data is transferrable over WiFi, just data from the Solo 2 or possibly attached SCHD video?
What is the transfer speed after a session?
How does one connect after a session? Does one have to connect their laptop's WiFi to the Solo 2; or can the Solo 2 join a 'track network' in common with the laptop? Etc.....

Does the Mxm have Wifi as well?

Configuration, downloads and firmware upgrades will all be done through the WiFi client integrated in Race Studio 3.

SCHD video will reside and be available on the SCHD SD card.

Transfer speed is "adequate."

It's peer to peer, so you'll select the Solo 2 from a list of available AP's.

Yes.

Assuming the download speed is similar to that of an MXL2/MXS/MXG, it will be pretty quick for any data set you develop from a Solo. When I have data sets with tire temps, shock pots, etc, they are slower to download (wireless or wired). For large data sets (lots of sensors or very long sessions), I still prefer to plug in. With a Solo 2, it should not be a problem.

Just to be clear, AiM Sportline is following the trend unveiled in the MyChron5.

There is no USB connection or wired connection of any kind for interface to Race Studio 3 in the Solo 2/Solo 2 DL. WiFi is the only option.

From the Solo2 product page, the iPhone app appears to depict a parking lot Autocross setup (maybe as it looks more like a parking lot circuit given the identically located start/finish line with no staging). Nonetheless, the pairing of the SoloDL 2 with Wifi and a good iphone/ipad (or other phone tablet) app might make a killer AX setup if done right.

Of course, I don't see an easy way to integrate video in this situation pending a WIFI SCHD.
