Looks like the trademark was about to expire so I'm guessing they jumped on it. Seems like a pretty good marketing strategy. For a few thousand dollars you can have the chance to get your name listed right afterSebastien Bourdais as the next CHAMPCAR champion.

pretty funny since the whole chumpcar was a play on champcar. Curious how the success of things like wrl play into the change? seems like they want to up the level. I definitely think there is a place for current style chumpcar racing. no spectacle like lemons, but not quite the semi-pro feel of wrl

Funny stuff, should've held onto our old "chumpcar" miata a bit longer, I'm sure it's worth more now! Now we have a champcar E30, we'll have to order new driver's suits for everyone and have all the mismatched body panels painted the same color :P
On a serious note I have learned a ton racing chumpcar over the years and its a great way to have fun with friends. We gave up on being super competitive years back as that was very stressful and not as much fun. Since we go in with an attitude of fun and teaching our slower driver's, we run in the top 20 with pretty low stress and always have a great time, go figure!

Ours too. Every driver is a PCA instructor except for me, and I'm consistently the slowest. Go figure. Putting the transmission back in the car this weekend, getting ready for Rd Atlanta.

Best way to get a seat is to go to the ChumpCar forum and make a post that you want to buy a ride at a specific track event.
I bought my first ride at Sebring, in a Miata. First time I had ever driven a Miata, I had the first driving stint, and it was my first time at Sebring. It was a hoot, once I remembered how to breathe.
This year, at Rd Atlanta, I have talked my 1st instructor into driving on my team. It will be his first time in this car, first real race, and first time ever on Rd Atlanta. Just to make the experience complete, I will schedule him for the first driving stint.
