Default Under tray/ splitter material search.

Builders,
Looking for a reasonably priced material suitable for an undertray that can hold up to racing environment. I need about 5' wide by 3' deep. Perhaps 1/2" or thinner. Anything better than plywood, lol. Thanks

This is similar to what I'm looking to do.

I have an undertray splitter for a 944 NA. It was fabricated by Joe Toth and I did not install it on the race car. It was my spare.

It is available for sale and currently stored in the Schenectady area. For a photo, do an advance rennlist search with Joe Toth user name and front spoiler 944 NA.

I am returning to Schenectady in six weeks.

Price is $300 plus shipping.

Don't hate the plywood splitters They work and are cheap to make and replace when they get ripped off on an off-tack excursion. But if you're looking to use something more spendy then you can go with alumilite. It's very sturdy and lightweight. will allow for some deflection before it breaks as well.

Alumalite. You can make 2 splitters out of one sheet.

Bayer BayFlex is the elastomer that is used as the wear surface on the bottom of steel snowplow blades.

Don't dis the plywood. I cut mine out of 3/8" plywood and then fiber glass it for strength. You can make them for about $50 each. I carry 2 spares normally.

Thanks for all the great leads guys! Really appreciate it. TNT, I can't use your splitter since my nose is a modified turbo style fiberglass unit. Thanks for the offer.

I used 6061 aircraft aluminum. Light and they come in large sheets. Mine if about 5' x 4'. It can take the curbing and abuse.

If you add a layer of fiberglass cloth on each side of 1/4" plywood it's actually durable, light, and stiff. Also cheap and easy to replace.

Hey that's my car in your photo! Super cheap home method is plywood with some fiberglass over it, easy home job. Jab rock is commonly available and far superior.

the splitter is a sacrificial/wear part that should be treated as such. It needs to be robust, easily removed and you should have a spare.

Good luck
