Default Radical RXC

Does anyone here have any first hand experience owning and operating a closed cockpit Radical? I'm quite intrigued by these things. How reliable are they? What's the typical running/service costs as compared to any other dedicated track car? Can anyone work on these or do you need their dealers or a specialized shop?
And any other useful information you might want to share

You're so funny Jeff. I want one that's true. I just don't want to make a costly mistake. I wish I could test drive one.

A radical is not a mistake. You will have a permanent smile on. Do a search on this forum. There are some great threads discussing radicals and how great they are. I know I've read them numerous times.

Call and talk to Danyel Delgado at Wisko Racing at VIR. They're a big dealer but will steer you straight. I would also talk to Chris Hall in Florida, as he worked on the development of the early versions of the RXC and has substantial seat time in them.

Talk to the guys at Monticello Motor Club, see if you can talk to Alex, Ari, or Chris.
They have a bunch of them IIRC.

+1 Peter.

Danyel has an RXC at VIR, incredible car.No question it will win every HPDE event

Here is pro diver Mike Skeen driving one of the Wisko RXC's around VIR.

I got a chance to see one in detail a few months back. It was up on a lift with some of the body panels removed. Really impressive looking car. Looked like the real deal.

I believe they are incredibly cheap to run. Tires, brakes etc last a long time since it weighs so little.

For racing or HPDE?

I've heard that the Wolf is the better choice for racing.
If racing, find out which has the larger local fields. It's no fun racing alone.

For HPDE, the Radical is far cheaper to own and they last well over a hundred hours IF you keep the RPM's 700 or 800 below redline. If you race them or hit redline every time, then the engine needs a refresh around 40 hours

Actually, the Norma M20 is better than the Wolf for racing, but your advice about a more conservative redline is GREAT and will really pay off if the car is used for track days.

A NP01 will be getting a 2.5L fitted for the 25hr... Just saying. If you want low, supercheap maintenance- There is no better bang for the buck. Great trackday/ racer.

A stock 2.0L NP01 finished 2nd overall at a 6 hour NASA enduro. Behind a Norma, and in front of a fast Porsche Cupcar. http://timingscoring.drivenasa.com/N...%20OVERALL.pdf

I just drove my car with a friend in a 2 hour enduro at Willow Springs. Not a hiccup. Won overall. Just added gas and cleaned windshield.
