Default Unawareness/Sloppiness at Sears Point

You make the call. Looks like Winders might have got lucky to not get caught in this little incident.

really sad when drivers dont keep it tight and surgical down the main straight at Sears. There is no place for this kind of sloppiness in club racing, especially with the faster cars!

Wow. THIS is why I wont race. All he had to do was pause, but instead tried to split a gap between cars in a corner. Just like the video of the shunt at Lime Rock at West Bend, both moves were way optimistic with very little opportunity for a positive outcome for all. Yeah, Winders is damn lucky that whole thing didnt catch him.

There are a few of these guy out there, but the more we catch them doing stupid stuff, maybe the more they will change their evil ways. this GTS4 driver in the 69 car, had NO business splitting hairs here without the ability to do so cleanly. Running 1:40 at sears means you know how to drive very well. the problem is the decision making and judgement, expecially through traffic. Spec e46 cars run in the 1:50s, cup cars in the low 1:40s.

Curious what happened w/ NASA officials after the incident happened? That sort of thing needs to be addressed immediately by those in charge to keep it from happening again or giving people the wrong idea of what club racing is supposed to be.

ps: 1:40 in a Cup car at Sonoma isn't very fast.

It was during a PRC race so PRC stewards will assess the penalty. Penalty report is usually available to members of PRC a few days after the event.

Oh wow, I hadn't seen that kind of driving in a PRC event. Hopefully someone sat down with the driver and there wasn't just a penalty of some form applied.

Thats exactly my point - there seemed to be so little to gain and so much potential downside. I get that its racing and that you need to be aggressive in some ways (I played competitive hockey my entire life, so I COMPLETELY get that), but you also need to play smart and think ahead of the play a bit. Like I said, this is why I have zero desire to race. I'd be seriously pissed if this happened to me (no different than the Lime Rock incident).

That kind of stuff happens during open track / test days too. You're missing out if that's what's stopping you from actually racing. IMO, of course.

While not foolproof, most of the time you can recognize the squirrels and make sure they can't "get" you...
