Unawareness/Sloppiness at Sears Point

His name should go on a national " do not allow to race" list.
Really. His name should not be allowed in any race event!
He will never pay for the guy he hit, I'll bet 1k on it. What a idiot.

Only then will these drivers listen.
As for payment, that would be a very bad precedent... No matter how stupid or dangerous.

THIS is the problem. When the behavior is SO egregious that other drivers note it and it never abates, usually resulting in a larger accident that is caused by, you guessed it, a driver who has been vetted, briefed, counseled AND warned to cease and desist, the stewards can do a better job...
This just adds fuel to the fire and legitimizes, in these folks minds, over aggressive and unsafe behavior. I'm sure PRC runs a good program, and NASA does a reasonable job of spelling out the rules... What can be changed to avoid this kind of incident?
These people self select only after the organizers call them to account.
You have to enforce the rules, hopefully before someone gets hurt. Sheesh...

You don't know the details of the behavior nor what was done about it.
It's easy to talk about this so authoritatively with your hindsight glasses on.

There you go again, Scott. Getting huffy.
The only question that remains is what can all of us do, and especially the organizers of an event, to prevent this sort of driver behavior from continuing to happen.
You said yourself he had demonstrated bad behavior before and that you didn't want to race him. That's good enough for me.

I am glad that I was cautious and mostly avoided direct interaction. I was fast enough to mix it up with 2 of the Cup Cars but didn't like the lines I was seeing nor all the dirt that was being kicked up when their cars ran out too far. I was content to hang back just off their bumpers.
If I had my way, I would recommend against letting unvetted Cup Car drivers race with us. Yes, I am profiling here. I think these guys were getting track time in for the upcoming Pirelli Cup races this coming weekend. No matter what our race director said to them I suspect they laughed us off as some lowly club racer group and decided to drive however they wanted.

Youtube has a little more action from behind #69 at the Sears Point race.... I'll leave the commentary up to the collective group.

It may not be the same driver, I wasn't there, the video just showed up after the one that was referenced earlier in this thread and it was apparently the same car and the same weekend at Sears Point. Maybe they were sharing the race car.

I didn't say it was a different weekend or a different car. I was pointing out that it was not the same race group that the wreck occurred in and that the lap times are 10 seconds a lap slower so it had to be a different driver.
That's all....

Scott, I wasn't shouting or taking exception with anything you said, I was just highlighting for the pundits that I was not there and therefore cannot offer any more on the topic. Merely a statement for clarity.

Watching that 69 car drive, I am reminded of a paraphrased version of the old Simon and Garfunkel song:
Hello apex, my old friend
Where the hell are you, again?
Hello apex, my old friend
Where the hell are you, again?
