Put the girodiscs and PFC08 pads on this time last year, and they show hardly any wear at all still. Pads started at ~10mm thickness, and are just now down to 8mm. Very light scoring of the discs, with just a barely detectable edge on the outer rim. At this pace, I’ll get 2 years from a set of pads, and maybe 4 years from the rotor surfaces. Compare that to 2 sets of pads and rotors per year that we were getting with OE, and it won’t take long to recoup the investment. And the braking is phenomenal. Great initial bite, no fade even on hour long sessions, and good modulation on the release.

We've seen OEM discs crack in a single day...not at all surprising! We've also seen plenty of customers rebuilding calipers after only a few days on the track. OEM street brake systems are not spec'd to handle consistent track abuse.

If anyone is thinking about investing in a set of two-piece discs, they may also want to consider our complete Essex Designed AP Racing Radi-CAL Competition Brake Kits. We're now offering them for the 987, 981, and 718. We have 991 GT3/RS and 981 GT4 kits in development as well. They are more expensive than two-piece discs initially, but they pay themselves off fairly quickly in consumable savings (pads, iron rings, and fluid). They also shave unsprung weight, improve feel dramatically, reduce the propensity for fade, and provide a big increase in both confidence and consistency. Best of all, you can sell them when you sell your car for about 60-70% of what you paid for them. They solve a whole bunch of issues with the OEM brake system, and offer far more durability and convenience (for example, no removing calipers to swap pads!). You can see lots of customer feedback on our kits on our blog.
