What's with the cell phone? I thought all loose items had to be secured or left in the pit.

It's not a play on words, the name may have helped them along the approval process. The track hosts more motorcycle events than car events, by a pretty wide margin. They do run mixed days, of course cars and motorcycles run separately. It's also fairly inexpensive to rent, so there are a number of semi-private track days and local club days dedicated to cars. As far as being safe, there are spots where the closest thing to hit is a tree and some will stay off it because of that. There is a fair amount of runoff in most places, tires walls and such in others. I guess it depends on your view of safe. Check out some videos and you will get a pretty good idea of what it is. I've been on it and would do so again but probably only with a day dedicated to cars. I like the layout.

Thanks 993Guy. Looks like there is runoff everywhere. That and some trees for sure.
My question was more related to the "laid back" atmosphere when it comes to safety.
Thanks for clarifying.

By laid back, it’s more like a private club day. You can give a passenger a ride, switch cars, and as pointed out, they are not going to disallow a phone in a holder or something along those lines. They do tech the cars, at least they did when I was there.

Haven't been there, but from videos does seem like a nice layout. Trees being anywhere near a racing surface and being the first thing you'd hit in an off, seems really risky to me. 10x worse than hitting a guard rail, and I'd argue even worse than hitting a cement barrier in many cases because of the concentration of force that a tree would have on the car if you hit one. I wonder if they are planning to address that.
