To clarify - you told Liberty Mutual commercial that you were going to take a company owned car and drive it on a racetrack and they said you were covered if something happened while you were driving it on the racetrack?

If so, congrats, that's amazing.

I guess I'm doing something wrong...maybe I should be running my porsche cars through my company insurance and not my VW Touareg.

BlackRain, give me a buzz sometime today or next week. We'll have someone review it for you to make certain. Or feel free to email me at jb@theopentrack.com

Have a great weekend.

Not sure you would want to open up your Commercial insurance to a on track claim in any event.

I don't know what type of business you are in but the ramifications of claim against a commercial policy can far exceed the savings that you would get from not purchasing a HPDE Physical Damage policy.

Something to think about

I am about to buy track insurance for my new 2017 Carrera GTS. I have 2 events for this year and probably will do around 6-8 at most events and/or days next year...really not sure.

So I went on line to all the following company's and filled in my info to see what it would cost. Here is what I found:

2017 Carrera GTS with $1000 (bought used) OZ Wheels and Girodisc Rotors. $126k value and $2000 mods value

LOCKTON $865 per event for a 6 event package for a total of $4766.29 and 10% deductible

TheOpenTrack. com $4650 UNLIMITED events on $126k with 5% deductible. However I found out that TheOpenTrack.com DOES NOT refund any used time. For example you total your car on the street and can't use the track days with in the year policy....no refunds!

OnTrackInsurnace. com $797.96 per event for a 6 Pack of track day events for a total $4782.76 with a 10% deductible. if you do not use the events with in the year you can get a refund.

Hagerty $126k insured for $705 per event. Buy Insurance for each event. That works out to $4230 for 6 events.

If you make a claim with ontrack, they cancel the rest of your policy (refund you the difference) and won't insure you for 3 years. Next season I'm going with Lockton.
