Makes me wonder if in 5 years, 10 years, will we even be physically in the cars we race? The engineering is incredible and the cars we produce achieve mind-blowing results. But the driving itself in drag races such as this is pretty much pre-programmed.

Probably in 20 years, once selfdriving cars are raced, what's the point in having humans in them. For that matter, why have a physical car anyway, just race virtual race cars. Kind of like having 2 computers play chess together. My computer is smarter than yours.
It is illegal to race your horse on a public road in most places. Self parking cars. Ford is gearing their production for a ride sharing public. Times change.
I think the downfall of the automobile started with invention of the automatic spark advance, probably sooner, but that was, and still is, a pretty big driver's aid.
