P1 vs LaFerrari vs 918 on track comparison FINALLY
All 3 cars owned by Brit Paul Bailey and driven by a race car driver on Silverstone, all on the same day. No manufacturer support. All cars stock. Guess which one was fastest?

I just watched the video. Did not need my special decoder ring.

IMO, the only reason the P1 was slightly faster was because it was the only car of the 3 to use Pirelli Trofeo R which is the most aggressive dry weather tire! It is an option tire on the P1 while most come with PZero Corsa (more comparable to the Pilot Sport Cup 2 of the 918 and the PZero Corsa of the LaF).

Pirelli doesn't make the Trofeo R in proper sizes for the 918, nor the LaFerrari, nor the P1.
918 has 265/35-20 325/30-21
LaFerrari 265/30-19 345/30-20
P1 245/35-19 315/30-20 (proper designed sizing)
The Trofeo Rs that the P1's been running are sized for the 12C/650S, 235/35-19 305/30-20.
The Cup2s, on the other hand has 7 out of the 8 sizes mentioned above, Michelin doesn't make a 315/30-20, but they do have 305/30-20 and 325/30-20. 325 might be pushing it to fit the P1 though, with Race mode dropping the car down, all the volume inside the wheel well will be gone.
Maybe some enterprising individual who have access to all 3 cars can call up Michelin and ask for Cup2s all around and compare the cars.
But even then it still won't work, the 918's Cup2s are designed for the 918, the GT3RS wears the same size rubber but those Cup2s are structurally different and have different compounds also. I believe the LaFerrari's certified Corsas are also different than the P1 certified Corsas. Apples to oranges comparison again.
The only fair way to compare is to wear the factory certified rubber, if the tread and compound gives one car a clear advantage or a clear disadvantage, then so be it. Blame it on the factory for choosing the wrong kind of tire.

Trofeo R is an afterthought tire for the P1, more then an option one. All this happened, when McLaren realized that wouldn't match the promised performance compared to the 918.
There was an old Top Gear comparison between the two in Spain with PZero (P1) and MPSC (918), which never gone public. You answer why...

Burning Brakes
Unfortunately, the owner is the guy who crashed this same 918 and injured 26 in Malta.

I assume parts 2 & 3 of this challenge must have already been filmed, since they posted part 1 after the accident.
Also, on an episode of Top Gear they said that Ferrari had said that any LaFerrari owner who let their car be tested against the P1 & 918 would be banned from purchasing a Ferrari in the future. I guess this guy has the 3 (maybe 2 now) best cars in the world now and wants the attention more than another Ferrari. Glad he did it for us!

P1, 918, Lafa
Fastest to the one mile marker, and the standing 1/4 at Santa Pod, the home of the drag race.
This is something very very special..
