Default 918 Recall

Hi, I received my 918 a couple of weeks ago and received a call form porsche today saying please do not drive the car as they are recalling all cars for an electrical loom getting very hot/fire from the engine.
Has anyone else heard this today.

I was talking to both Porsche GB and the factory (by email) today, and neither mentioned this.

I am picking my car up from Leipzig on Tuesday, (I hope!)

Recall confirmed.

No stop drive notice though, car is safe to drive for the time being.

It's gonna be a 4hr job for swapping harnesses and all owners will be getting a phone call about it soon if not already. The 19 Canadian owners will be getting their calls tomorrow.

Electrical harness, i.e. wiring loom.

Reading will do mine on my next UK visit in 3 weeks. I was told no track work until the inspection has been done.

Cars completed after April 29 are not affected. It is a 50 amp fan wire that can rub on a carbon fiber heat shield and wear the insulation off. Since the car does not have a fuse to blow on this wire the electrical system will not function properly and the car will not operate at all if the problem affects your car. In a more rare event it could catch fire. There has not been a stop driving alert issued while they do recommend not driving. I will take mine in next week for the fix which involves inspecting the wire in the left side fan. If there is no damage they will install a fancy zip tie to keep the wire in place, this takes about 4 hours. If there has been damage to the wire loom it takes about a day to fix. This has affected two cars in the U.S. And one in the UK I have been told. I continue to drive my car.
