918 for sale on PCNA site

Besides the Voodoo Blue, the same Seller has a metallic blue Weissach with 500+ miles listed for $2mil, plus the P Dealer in New Orleans asking $2mil for their GT Silver Weissach with only 9 miles (seems low, based on typical delivery miles).

918 prices.
I simply don't get it, why would somebody pay more for a 918 than a 959 ? Makes zero sense to me if its for "collecting " purposes... If you simply want to drive one and thats what you have to pay today to get one then I guess I understand that, but for a speculator paying more for a 918 than a 959 makes little sense to me.... I have a feeling once all the cars are delivered (which very few have so far) premiums will mostly or all vanish.... Heck I remember when 07/08 gt3 rs were 50k over msrp at dealers for a while... that sure did not last long..

I paid 50k over for my 07RS pumpkin...stupid move!!! Agree with justin the cgt is the long term keeper.
I almost bought a GT2RS yesterday but I am worried the car will drop severely if i put on miles.
918 spyder is cool and retarded fast but I would be concerned about long term value. I heard porsche sold about 300 in the US

How many of the 300 cars in the US were bought by dealers - either voluntarily or after some 'encouragement'? I would imagine a number of those were simply held until they were announced as sold-out, then immediately put on the secondary market...
I'd also be interested to see where actual sales are happening - asking price and sale price are very different things, as has been seen in the enzo market the last year or two... Have any secondary transactions gone through that have disclosed pricing?

Here's something interesting I heard from my dealer. They were "obliged" to buy at least 2 918. One of which is in storage. The other is for sale at MSRP in their showroom. I believe the final sales were quick due to this trick to create scarcity.
No matter, it's a great car, but higher than MSRP? I think this is a crazy and I'll fated game that the dealers/manufacturers are running. Even if THEY end up making money, consumers may be twice bitten, thrice shy.
How many cars can w consume? Are we all going to have car museums?

Hopefully the sales manager at the dealership I work with is not yanking my chain. He had at least two serious clients looking to get an allocation. One customer that was late to the game because he thought he was going to get a Laferrari spot that never materialized. Another customer just waited to the end, now looking for possibly someone to drop out of their order. Also contacted by a local high end broker that is looking for a car for his client. This is just one dealership in a major metropolitan area. I'm sure the hysteria will moderate as we go. If you have a car now, it is worth some premium. Only the market can tell you how much.

LOL! Wait a few months and all of the craziness will die down...
I predict Weissach cars will be more valuable than the non-Weissach in the long run. I will be a happy camper if the 918 Weissach cars goes up in value by 40% in year 5 and 70% in year 10.
