OK. If that is what this forum wants, that is what this forum gets! I hope that Rob Rouleau adds the 959 to the heading and takes the 960 into 'Off Topic'...or the 987/981 Forum!

Hopefully, after all of this fanfare, many of you will have meaningful things to contribute to the 959 discussion at Rennlist. I'll start by posting photos of one particular original & low mileage example. This 959 is presently owned by someone that has recently begun posting on this forum at my suggestion. He will hopefully fill us in with the particulars of this beautiful vehicle...which was initially sold in the land of the Rising Sun!

Believe it or not I was just about to start the same exact thread, I can't believe it. I guess great minds think alike. When I joined the other day I was surprised that there was to thread on the 959 as it even has watercooled heads so it technically can fit in this watercooled section Anyway this is the 959 I purchased a little while back at the dealership and on its way to the PPi. I'd love to give you a driving impression but unforutunetly I haven't even gotten to drive it yet. It's currently at the Porsche Classic Center and I can't wait to finally pick it up. Owning a 959 has been a dream of mine since I first saw it at the Frankfurt auto show.

Seen two - one in Vegas at Wynn Ferrari being worked on the other in Aspen. Spoke with the mechanic on a Saturday and he absolutely loved the 959. He raised it and we went over all the facets of the car.

In Aspen spoke with the owner and asked if he ever decides to let it go to please call me first. He laughed and said he bought it new and would be buried in the car if he could. I think the owners know what they have and it's a car one does not sell willingly.

Beautiful! And great timing too...the prices are going up, up, up! Please post more photos & driving impressions when you get it back!

Here are more photos of the 'Silver' 959!

The original speedometer w. odometer was replaced upon importation from Japan per our DOT certification regulations. The original gauge is in Kilometers. My very vague recollection is that the vehicle had less than 5000 Kilometers (< than 3107 miles) when this particular 959 was imported to the United States, but I will let the current owner address this fact when he gets a chance to check back with this forum!

Silver with the multiple colored seats were one of the more popular combinations for the comfort version of this vehicle. Mine was originally delivered in Japan to a collector who purchased two (I believe Canapa has the other one, pearl white with multi colored gray seats, currently for sale). At the time of importation, my car had 2,395 km. After Canapa changed out the odometer, running it forward to reflect actual miles, it clocked 1,488. I've owned the car 15 months and put half again as many miles on it. The best part of ownership is it's so unassuming. Everyone thinks it's an old 911 with a body kit. The car is meant to be driven and is relatively easy to drive. But, for anyone looking for a garage queen, Canapa also has the last 1988 produced in n his inventory.
