OMG - Incredible Machine
The 918 is an amazing car. If any of you guys buying one ever need someone to drive it to keep it operating feel free to give me a call. I will come to you, wherever the car is, and pay for he gas to drive it as much as you need it driven.
I went with a friend to Birmingham on Thursday to see and drive the car. I was honored to be able to drive the car even though I wouldn't be buying one. Everyone at Porsche was amazing. Barber Motorsports Park is beautiful and an amazing facility. Only two laps on the track but it was awesome and very technical. Makes me really consider going back for the driving school...
The car is even more impressive close up and in person. Seeing one at the auto show just is not the same.
The acceleration is unreal and something that I may never experience again unless I am shot out of a cannon. The car just takes off with launch control. Without launch control it is still something unreal.
It would help to be a contortionist to get in the car, but I was able to get in and out and feel I looked more graceful than Seinfeld did I the video when he got in his car.
I couldn't believe how quickly it gained on the Turbo S on the track. I couldn't keep full throttle I would have run the lead car over. Braking, acceleration, everything was nothing like I have experienced before. The technology is amazing and comes together seamlessly. The power is always there.
And the sound, OMG the sound. I still can hear it and can't get it out of my head. It was amazing - no need for a stereo IMO, of course I would not be very gas friendly...
Thanks to all the Porsche reps that took care of us on Thursday. I bought my lottery ticket, now I just need to win!

It makes every other car I have ever owned feel incredibly slow.

Agreed. I did launch control in my Audi S6 before going in the park to drive the 918. The S6 is a fast four door sedan and I enjoy driving it - but it is no cannon. It now feels really slow...

Not in Vancouver yet, not in Canada, also not on an airplane. I think it's still somewhere inside the Zuffenhausen compound being worked on by Walliser. Honestly I haven't check on it as I have been flying out once a week this past month and busy trying to secure a F12.
