Just for kicks I ran a database query ... Q: how many cars have 4+ owners out of the 645 US examples. A: 75 or 11.6% ... that is not relatively normal imo.
There are a LOT of 1 owner and 2 owner CGT's out there ... and of course the rest are 3 owner. That's 570 cars with 3 or less owners.
# owners does not always dictate the condition of specific example ... but it more often than not is an indicator. The example in question 'is not great' at 4 owners those miles and asking price .. all things being equal.

Very interesting data if accurate. I guess the "usual suspects" typically on the market are that 11.6%, and the more desirable examples exchange hands privately more often, or, obviously, not at all. I know there are plenty of CGTs with a low number of owners, but it's a little surprising that only 11.6% of them at this point, 13-14 years on, have had 4 owners. I have come across many of them with more than that.

Wish they were back down to 3 even 400k at todays prices it just sucks the fun right out - now we have stats on owners

Stats are great if the data is good. I'd be willing to take the over in 12% of CGTs are 3+ owners. But I think it at least shows, that directionally, it's less than most think. But I know for a fact, I've seen a few CGTs that have been bought and sold multiple times w/out ever updating registration. I know my insurance company only needs a bill of sale and often works with clients that don't register their collection. Idk why.....taxes......keep # of owners down on the car? Idk? Must be the don't-drive-the-car-crowd?

Funny that, in my search for my perfect CGT, I found a 4 owner car that was in immaculate condition with 3,500 miles. Saw another car with 5,000 miles and a single owner, which was completely torn up, rugged seats etc.
I don’t understand how how people don’t drive these cars? I can’t stop driving mine weekly! Yes, I’ve put more miles on it than the original owner and I’m still going. The 700-900k price tag isn’t going to stop me, if something happens, I’ll just buy another one.
Enjoy it as it’s intended to, believe me, after driving so many Supercars/Hypercars, the Carrera GT is one of my favourites. It’s a hard choice between that and the F40.
Go on, hop in your car and take yourself back to the 917 Le Mans winning car, shift through those gears and let the air glide through your hair!

^^^totally agree with you and if there was ever a car that needs to be driven, it's the CGT. They just don't do well when they sit. I know a lot of cars are better off mechanically if driven but the CGT seems to be an extreme case and ironic so many are not driven (and maintenance nightmares as such).

We maintain a database of 17,500+ Porsche vehicles and the # of owners data comes from Experian Autocheck. That allows us to generate stats such as this with pretty high accuracy.
I agree a lot of the cars that you see come to market through the dealer networks are the same cars over and over. That's exactly why we formed PORS9 - to proactively access off market cars.

Well there are always going to be title jumpers (which I think is what you are referring to) ... but I think for the most part that is not what people buying $600k cars do. There are a lot of downsides to title jumping from insurance issues to financing issues to resale issues.

Those are probably cars that are not what you want to own as they were most likely bought with the intention not to keep. Drive hard, put away wet, sell. Not always the case with title jumping, but there are plenty of cars, so why buy these would be my question?

I remember when F40-r did a video with two Stradale's then an SV which he flipped or who knows same about the F40 ... but more important who cares.
