Isn't this the guy who had a photo of a computer readout showing a speed of 217 on an undescribed public road? (think thatwas Automobile magazine)
Hope he's okay. AS

Hope he makes a full recovery, obviously.
The passenger compartment looks intact from this angle. I wonder what kind of injuries he suffered. Spinal maybe?
Edit: more info via an fchat thread...

Nooooooooo.....
when i first read the initial article in a R&T a few years ago about how he bought his enzo to drive it and had already put like 5000 miles on it, i thought 2 myself: this guy is the man.
Hope he makes a recovery, anyone know how many miles he managed 2 put on it?

It was R/T and the speed showed 218. Mileage was something over 30,000. His reason for the open road speed run was (to paraphrase) "It's more satisfying to do it on roads paid for by the taxpayer. And, this is America where you can do anything you want as long as you are prepared to live with the consequences" Also didn't want Bonneville salt in every crevice of his car.
I'm sure we will learn more. Also hope there was no passenger. AS

The local press reports the driver sustained "broken bones".
The event was a fundraiser, and apparantly timed by Utah Highway Patrol. The "fines" for speeding were then a charitable donation. The report cites the speed at about 100 mph, witht the car coming apart, as designed. The passenger compartment was said to be intact. AS

Both this crash and the one in California that split in half make you wonder if either of those crashes would be survivable in another car.
On another note, how much did the remaining Enzo's go up in value now that two are off the road?

one was destroyed recently at beirut airport in the ongoing war between israel and hezbollah in lebanon.
but the resale has been going down.
considering it started at more than twice retail that is not surprising.
it still sells well above retail.

Didn't somebody bust one up at a California vintage event? And, wasn't another on wrecked exotics?
I think the 'Pope" model is safe for sure. I'm surprised Israel didn't take heat for destroying an innocent Enzo. But it's in heaven now with 72 virgin Lexus RX330's.
Did anybody beside me think that wreck looked like more than 100mph?
Oh, and Roberga, I'm not taking the bait. AS
