came across a discussion in which the owner of this 3 day old car indicated he was on an AutoX and hit a cone in a tight slalom course (must have been filled with cement)...

I am assuming. The driver could have been a track victim, but if you look at the damage, that would only be likely if the track had steel poles sticking out of the ground. Again, that is really strange damage for avoiding an accident.
