Default Carerra GT Looks hot, but ugly wheels.

Like the Turbo and the GT2, the wheels on the Carrera GT dont look that great.
Just seems so weird that Porsche, on their most expensive models, except fo the GT3, that they offer the ugliest wheels.

Jus an observation.

I'll too my 2 cents in as well.... I think the CGT wheels are great looking, they fit with the car very well....

That said i'm not a huge fan of the turbo wheels and do agree that the GT-3 wheels are some of the best looking on production cars other than the CGT.....

If only the GT3 wheels were as light as they are good looking. Considering the emphasis Porsche is putting on the GT3 being lightweight, they sure missed the boat when it came to the wheels.

Any body know any weights for the CGT centerlock magnesium wheels?

Default CGT Wheel Weight

Sloth, I seem to remember that when we toured the CGT production line in Leipzig we asked the same question of the line staff. Several of us picked up a CGT rim and guessed the weight at about 30/35 Lbs,it felt extremly light for its size. We were told by one of the managers that the rim weighed about 15 Kilos/33Lbs. I am not sure if that was a guess on his part or fact.

33 lbs seems extremely heavy for those wheels. i bet they're closer to half that.

Default CGT wheel weight

Ben,I agree that sounds heavy . My guess was that they were closer to 22/24 Lbs -10/11 Kilos.

33lbs for a magnesium wheel?
That doesn't sound right.

The 944 turbo cup wheels are magneisum (and 16x8 and 16x9) and weigh next to nothing. I picked one up at the Hershey swapmeet and was very surprised by how light it was. I would guess it was near 10lbs.

Default CGT wheel weight

Adrial, I agree that 33 lbs seems way too heavy. As I said the factory Rep on the build line in Leipzig was inundated with questions. Maybe we misunderstood his answer. 15Kilos /33 Lbs , or maybe because we were a US contingent of buyers he quoted the weight in Lbs (15Lbs not Kilos). That may be a lot more accurate for a 9 1/2x J 19 front wheel.

Just remember that those wheels are huge (19" & 20" and very wide too)!
