40000 miles in my GT
Well, another mileage milestone for the car, 13 years owned now and last night ticked over 40000 miles, every single one a blast.
A wee dram to celebrate and a track day at Donington Park today. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a8e93cb12.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...82d695f4e.jpeg |

Well done on getting the miles on yours when I first had the GT and was younger and more foolish i managed 6k the first year. Only issues apart from servicing annually and religious adherence to the four year motor out services; Head gasket Gearbox repair at Hor as 3rd gear synchro went New rads twice (now have grills in the pu so no issue ) New front PCCB’s one clutch (would have been ok but was doing higher mikes and we calculated it wouldn’t last to the next four year engine out service) one set of coil packs New rear spoiler canisters New starter motor Few other odds and sods lot of tyres! i stare when not driving especially now when it’s filthy after a day on track :-) |
Brilliant stuff. You must be pretty good on the brakes--there are cars with half your mileage with all four rotors shot...
Your second gear synchro... never an issue? |
RS Clubsport:
Gearbox repair at Hor as 3rd gear synchro went ===> can the box be opened and replace only the synchro or you have to replace the entire gear box from what I heard New rads twice (now have grills in the pu so no issue ) ===> where can we get grills for the front openings as well as the gill (side openings), I know porsche of reading used to make them? but that was 10 years ago... most of the cars in USA do not have them. would love to get a set or two CRex: I try not to use first gear unless I am at full stop and I don't punch first gear, easy upshift to 2nd then WOT. also when engine/trans cold, I go 1st to. 3rd. |
If the box is sent back to Hor it can be repaired, that's what I had done. Porsche UK remove it and crate it and send it off for repair. The box has a lead seal to make it evident if anyone other than Hor has cracked it open. Could be done from the US, logistically bit more tricky but cheaper than a new box.
I've asked Porsche Reading if they can supply the front PU grills and will let you know. I had the side grills from a company in the US but the fit was dreadful and took them out. Never had any issues with damage to the doors as have ppf. No issue with the rear rads. |

Your second gear synchro... never an issue? I did have steel and Surface Transforms at times on the car. The PCCB really wear well with Endless pads, also run DOT 5.1 and the GT cooling is very good compared to the GT3 variants. There is a company in Europe who refurbish PCCB now for around $4500 per set of four and I will do this with my old ones. My 2nd gear is getting a bit notchy, when it's really warm and on track no issues. I had the trans fluid and filter changed just recently at the service and it's improved, the 5th engine out service is due next year so if it's got worse I'll send the box back to Hor. |
Congrats ! ! !

Congratulations :)
