here is a close up of what I used a few years ago. Mesh hex cut to fit. On the side vents, we used targa top clips to hold on to the nose. The center vent/hole has a rubber seal/grommet that can be used to hold the mesh in place.
This has saved me from debris and a bird strike in the front. Hope this helps

Paul at Monterey. about 10 years ago. (now that I looked at my service pictures. 2009)
Mesh was a hexagon alum. pattern I bought at OSH. matches the rear deck hex.
