I'm curious - to those of you who have a cgt in the garage - if the market for the car were to soften, would you be picking up a second?
Seems like owners trade up for a for lower mileage CGT or special color - which makes no sense as a CGT not driven / well maintained rots from the inside.

CGT well maintained ages extremely well and with the factory restore program - I no longer have any desire to own a 2nd.

True to each his own.

Porsche restoration program is a breath of fresh air for the CGT - we all know it's the best drivers car.

To turn back time to 2005 - don't see how it gets any better regardless of what someone compares it with.

Personally I’m onto my second one and have asked for details regarding the factory restore program - considering changing interior/exterior colour. Waiting to hear back...

I recently sold my second cgt. Got tired of paying the storage fee and the insurance for it.

Storage fees and insurance? That's maybe 3500 per year? 10 years = $35k. I'll be you would make 10x the expense in 10 years....

I really wish it cost 3500/yr to own a GT. If so, I maybe i would own more than one.

Absolute lowest you are going to see on a quality insurance policy is 0.5% of value. Even if it's a 650k CGT, you are at your 3500/yr number already. Low cost storage is 250/mo.

Storage and maintenance on absolute low side of reality is double your quote and that's not including a dime of maintenance for one of the most expensive-to-maintain Porsche ever made.

Averaging out a major even every 6yrs?, some minimal annual and some more realistic storage/insurance estimates, it's easily 15k/yr to carry a CGT without including any cost-of-money tied up in a 6-700k car. But it's easily 15k/yr real out-of-pocket expenses regardless.

And we've been in the longest running asset appreciation, cheap capital environment in history of mankind.

Going forward, you need to own these things because you love them. There's zero economic justification to own them; only "returns" you'll see are grins and stress release.

Which makes ownership for those of us waiting on the sidelines more of a reality. A car like this should not be an investment. I like that it’s a bit of a hassle and upkeep, well worth it for the enthusiasts and a scare for the speculators

Keep going ... personal property tax where I live is 2% so on 650k add 13k.

It's the cheapest hobby a married man can have - regardless of yearly costs.

Well, I guess we all have access to different opportunities. I've had my CGT for 7 years and I'm nowhere near double my estimate.

the only way to make sense of owning it is to drive the living day out out of it
