prices on CGT?

Even servicing costs are geographically affected. For example we pay a lot more for a simple oil and filter here in the northeast than owners do in say the Midwest or South.

You mean you would have to rebuild some of these new cars engines twice with that mileage!! (Project 1, Valkyrie, speedtail?) Who knows going forward the cost of the new cars. Itll make these things look like a deal to maintain overtime IMHO. They are special, and still underappreciated because they are too young.

F1 engine?
4wd?
Hybrid?
Active aero flappy things?
4 strikes against simplicity.
CGT, F50, F40, way easier to maintain.

The Mercedes Benz AMG "Project 1" may be an all time Flop of the century. They are just making this car now as a HYBRID when Porsche 918 Spyder, McLaren P1, and LaFerrari have all come out in 2014-2015 and all were sold out and "Game Changers" as they exemplified that even Hybrids can out perform Super Cars of the previous decade. "Project 1" is too late to the party and it requires an engine replacement after 20K miles. I'd rather own my own Formula 1 team than buy one at a staggering cost of $2.6M and then the headache of complete engine re-do at 20K miles. Plus they are now having issues making that car "Street Compliant." AMG is no longer what it used to be. It is more of a "generalist" car and lost its luster for their old mantra "One man/woman, one engine." Just my $0.02.

The project one was always a hybrid but the issue people will have is that it's 2.6 Euros...but it's rarity will ensure its collectibility.
They stepped in it by saying it's the same F1 engine. Uhhh ok- maybe getting a car to idle or stop start will be a little challenging!

Project 1 Battery - like other hybrids mentioned I have heard numbers of 100k.
918 LaFerrari P1 regardless of miles those hybrids have a shelf life.

I really wish it cost 3500/yr to own a GT. If so, I maybe i would own more than one.
Absolute lowest you are going to see on a quality insurance policy is 0.5% of value. Even if it's a 650k CGT, you are at your 3500/yr number already. Low cost storage is 250/mo.
Storage and maintenance on absolute low side of reality is double your quote and that's not including a dime of maintenance for one of the most expensive-to-maintain Porsche ever made.
Averaging out a major even every 6yrs?, some minimal annual and some more realistic storage/insurance estimates, it's easily 15k/yr to carry a CGT without including any cost-of-money tied up in a 6-700k car. But it's easily 15k/yr real out-of-pocket expenses regardless.
And we've been in the longest running asset appreciation, cheap capital environment in history of mankind.
Going forward, you need to own these things because you love them. There's zero economic justification to own them; only "returns" you'll see are grins and stress release.

It would be interesting to see the true ownership cost on the CGT vs. 918 in the long term. While CGT is a simpler car, it was not designed with maintenance in mind. The parts on the CGT are increasing by 25% each year and some parts are almost impossible to come by (eg. fuel tank, gearbox).

I think the 918 Spyder might be cheaper from a maintenance standpoint. 918 is still new so haven't really heard of the batteries expiring although one owner had his batteries replaced under warranty as it was not charging.

LOL, that's exactly what some people did back in the days when Porsche was in financial distress in the 90s and bought a ton of 959 parts. Now Porsche Classics needs to pay 8 times (eg. bumper) what they sold for to get them back.
