Help... Hunting for a CGT in the UK/Europe - Good Price and What to look out for

Hi All,

Can you guys advise me please? I am new to hunting for a CGT and I am in the UK.

I am looking for a car with the following:
- Preferred Colour is Black, second is either GT Silver or White
- Enough miles on it to where it can be can enjoy without really hurting its value or taking a big depreciation hit. Is that around 5k to 10k miles? I don't care about it making money just not losing too much. Advice?

I am based in the UK, so should I try and buy in the UK or in Europe?

What is considered a great price for a car that has been well looked after and meets the above criteria?

My research shows maintenance ins't too bad unless the clutch needs changing? Thoughts?

Anything to look out for when buying?

Thank you for taking the time to help!

Yes it's more expensive that a normal 911 type of mass produced car. But the car is so freaking awesome.

My advice....assume it's a million dollar car because frankly it should be. Whatever you buy it for plus maintenance will be well below that...so you actually made money lol

They are very special and in my opinion the best road car ever made. So just adjust your reality about maintenance costs and enjoy.

Point taken and I am certainly open to taking his mental approach once I actually know what the costs are. Can I please a rough idea on maintenance costs?

My car is currently in for service, once I get it back, I’ll post a picture of what the service cost me.

In the UK you’re looking at cars that are £550-650k, I’d say to stick to an 6-10k mike car and enjoy it as the car is so underrated that maybe one day it’ll be appreciated slightly more.

The only expensive thing, really is the clutch, don’t let anything else scare you.

If I can find a nice black one at around £550k I am all over it!

I think you’ll need to drive a hard bargain to get one at that price...

They really have moved a bit in the UK haven’t they.

I was offered a black one with 35k miles for £525k but that too many miles

You could ask @Whoopsy on Instagram as he has recently acquired a Carrera GT in the UK.

Nothing wrong with a 35k mile CGT that has been properly maintained.

That could be my old car...where is it currently located?

35k miles is not too much for a Carrera GT, out of the 3 CGT I had over the years that one was the best one in terms of power...engine starts working at its best at around 20/25k kms!

Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight. I mean @Woppum on Instagram. Whoopsy lives in Vancouver. Woppum is also on Rennlist.

You seem to be correct.

May I ask, do prices drop sometimes on these beauties or do they just keep going up?

They had great difficulty selling all they made and new untitled ones were discounted.

Following the final sale of the last new one, they enjoyed a bit of a blip in 06 07. Declined thereafter until all assets began to inflate until around 2014 or so when they saw their peak. Having been slowly declining since then.

I bought an 04 with 2k miles around 2009 for low $300's!!

I bought an 04 with 3k miles the day the supreme court released their obamacare decision for 365 CAD.

Wish I could have those back.
