Default Help with CGT purchase

Hello all. Tne CGT has been my dream car for as long as I can remember and now I'm getting ready to purchase one. I have read as much as I could on this thread but was hoping for some more sage advise. I have a 12 month time table but I'm not in a hurry. I obviously want to find tne right car. I prefer a 2005 Silver or seal grey. I currently have a 2015 Cayman S as my day driver and a 2016 Boxter Spyder as my Sunday driver . I have had 911s but prefer tne midengine setups.
1. Are there significant differences between tne 2004 and 2005 years?
2. Any concerns with "high mileage" 10K or so cats?
4. Any concerns in purchasing from these national specialty car dealerships such as Texas Hot rides?
5. Anyone check out tne 2005 CGT that was briefly at Porsche of Delaware with high miles
Budget of 550-650 reasonable?
I would appreciate greatly any wisdom from this board.

CGT's are great cars, you won't be disappointed!

- Most importantly, have a Pre-Purchase Inspection done by a Porsche dealer or specialist that knows CGT's.

-There is nothing wrong with a high mileage car as long as it has been properly maintained and serviced.

- There are no significant differences between the model years.

I think you can find a nice car toward the high end of your budget. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the reply.
Appreciate your input . I have not seen many 2004 discussed. It seems that 2005 are preferred.
thanks again.

I would avoid buying one at a non-Porsche dealer...better off buying one at an individual's house in his garage

These cars have to be serviced 100% and lots of independent shops shortcut stuff

They are amazing...one of the best cars of all time.

If you're shopping by color they can take a while to come up. best thing is to see as many as possible so you understand the difference between a really good one and an average one and a terrible one

The best auto ever IMHO
i was PMed by tech at Farfield Porsche who said that he did PPI on all the CGT at Texas Hot rides for buyer
Besides accidents and lack of service what should I be looking for?
What are common issues found on PPI done by others?
Thanks in advance

Do You have a name for the Fairfield tech? I am interested in having a car PPI in the Northeast. Thanks. PM me if you can.

Between 2004 and 2005, there was "questionably" a modification to the clutch to assist in anti stall. However, talking to several owners and technicians, it is not clear exactly what modification was done for the clutch and what cars in the production timeline were affected. If you really want to be sure a 2005 production would be best.

One of the only differences I've heard of is the rear glass is different on some early cars. Never heard of any clutch differences unless its in the programming. Nothing confirmed.

It's best to go with an 05 - lot of little things that got better from 04 - 05 it's more desirable.

As few as owners as possible the more it changed hands the less you know about it's history - accidents etc.

IMO owners over service their CGT's - ppi should take 3- 4 hours look for engine leaks original wiring harness shocks check ceramics for wear brakes clutch tires and full luggage. Make sure the P dealer has CGT gold level techs. Be there to look at the belly for scrapes damage leaks cleanliness it's nice to see mesh behind front wheels protects the body from rocks.

Going to let mine go as soon as I find something worthy it's been hard finding a manual roadster that sounds like an F1 under 1m.

TX was transparent when I inquired about one car in their inventory. That particular car had a bat$hit insane PPI report and the salesperson shared that with me regardless. I applaud their honesty, even when it was evidently against their interest.

Curious.

Seen wiring harnesses with a few bad wires dealer simply added a few wires outside harness same dealer dinged the door both were never shared by dealer. If it's purchased at a dealer get in touch with prior owner or owners there are a few good CGT's out there it's worth finding the right one.
