EPA Hold for all 2018 Porsche models
Just wanted to let everyone know here that there is a hold on all 2018 Porsches. they are not allowed by the EPA to leave the port and be delivered to the dealerships. I just verified that my 2018 Macan S is among them. No ETA on when this will be resolved. FYI. there is a thread about this whole thing in the 991 subforum.

I asked the local Porsche Dealer manager about this today. This is what he told me:
1. The issue is about getting CARB compliance. That's where California determines the rules and makes the certification, but other states have signed on to the same requirements, such as NY. But it still depends on some individual [perhaps interacting with a bureaucracy] in California signing the documentation.
2. There is no testing or compliance issue, the guy just hasn't done it yet. "He's on vacation or something."
3. "The latest word we're getting is we won't be getting cars until September."
I make no warranty for this information. Indeed, it does not ring true to me.* I got my 2017 a few weeks ago; it must be agony for 2018 people.
*Total speculation: California is requesting that the VW group sign a special certification document with requirements tailored for emissions cheaters. A key element: the manager signing it goes directly to jail should any irregularities emerge. The attorneys are negotiating over the exact meaning of "irregularity".

I may be old fashioned, but is the introduction of 2018 models in July now common among car manufacturers? Is Porsche early, challenging government certification processes (and perhaps their own) to react quickly? Why would they repeat this mistake in 2018 after making it in 2017? Cash flow nightmare!
