2016 Macan S PCM --so bad it was hilarious.
Today I drove my wife's 2016 Macan S from New Jersey to Brooklyn. She sat in the passenger's seat. And this was on a Saturday. I expected it to take 2 hours to drive 50 miles. What I didn't expect was how poorly the NAV functioned.
We ran WAZE simultaneously on an iPhone and compared the two. All settings were checked beforehand and were identical. The PCM consistently routed us on streets that were blocked, closed, one way (the wrong way), and just plain wrong. Even though traffic monitoring was ON it never once rerouted us.
Going home it was worse directing me to make a U-turn on the Williamsburg Bridge!! It was so confusing that I had to turn it off and just follow WAZE which was excellent.
I've had two other Porsches (Boxster and Spyder) with pretty much the same results.
I know there's an update for the 2017 model, but does anyone know if there's an update for the 2016?
I'm looking forward to the 2018 CarPlay version for a new Porsche GT car that I'll be purchasing near the end of 2017. It better be an improvement.

I can vouch for how bad the 2016 Macan nav is- especially in North New Jersey. Yesterday I got routed to a cull de sac 15 miles south of the motel address I put in. It is of Chris Christy quality.

No reason to order gps anymore. iPhone is the best. Google maps / waze can't go wrong.

The PCM Nav in my 981 Cayman was absolutely terrible. It would route me in the worst possible way, and this was with no avoidances enabled and without SiriusXM traffic routing.
When it came time to order the Macan, I went with Carplay instead. NAV just isn't worth it given the rate phone navigation is updated.

The GPS in my last 4 P cars, '17 Macan GTS, '14 GT3, '12 Pana TT, '10 Pana S have all been disappointing. The latest version in the new Macan does not include the Fl Toll Roads around Orlando.

This makes me glad I didn't opt for the navi in my 2017 macan - I had a 2012 genesis coupe w/ navi and it worked just fine. I still used google maps for 95% of my driving and only used it when I lost cell phone signal or when my phone battery went out while driving.

I got the Navi in my 2017 Macan GTS and while it hasn't been horrid (is LIGHT YEARS better than what was in my 2015 Nissan GT-R) it still isn't as good as just having my iPhone clipped to the vent with either Google Maps or Waze up. I wouldn't have ordered it special if it wasn't included.

Nothing new here. PCM, NAVI and ICE always take a back seat and typically years behind the competition. I always rely on my iPhone for Nav and use the PCM Nav as jewelry in the background.

I only use the PCM as a "backup" in case the phone w/Waze craps out. When they are both working I compare the two but go with Waze on the phone as the primary tool.
BTW.....our Audi A5 does the same thing.....perhaps VAG cars use the same source?
