Default Is anyone here using their Macan to tow a small camper?

I am thinking about getting a Macan, and I am wondering if anyone here has used one to tow a camper similar to an r-pod? Macan would be a turbo, I am thinking 3500lbs braked trailer and I would be driving through mountains here in CO.

thanks

I have an almost new 2016 Macan S with factory hitch. I just towed a small (5'x 8') single wheel U-Haul trailer about 800 miles, including significant mountain passes.

Total loaded weight of the trailer was about 2,300 lbs. - I don't know the tongue weight.

Absolutely no issues whatsoever. I would do it again without hesitation.

One concern I would have is that the outside mirrors on the Macan are kinda small. Might be wise to look into some sort of add-on mirrors - not sure what is available for the Macan.

Does anyone have a photo of what the Macan with a trailer hitch looks like? In particular the valence and rear bumper area. Aesthetics are important to me and I am wondering what it looks like.

I am not sure I would pull a trailer (maybe) but I would definitely use a hitch for a bike rack.

Not a great shot, but hopefully will give you some idea what the hitch looks like.

Not necessary to mess with the mirrors, at least for the size of trailer I pulled. Visibility was more than sufficient.

Thanks! It looks like it fit in pretty well with the lower valence.

All good replies. The mirrors is not something I had thought of.

Is that the OEM Porsche hitch or an aftermarket one?

Cayman, do you have the factory hitch or an aftermarket brand?

Stock hitch. The Macan GTS was originally said to have been able to tow nearly 6000lbs. They downgraded that in my opinion because although the engine has plenty of power, they were concerned about damage to the PDK transmission. (Very expensive repair) I've attached another item I've had no problems with towing. My boat. Weighs in with trailer at a shade over 3500lbs. Tows like a champ. What I do though, is put the trans in manual and shift like a manual. I let off on the gas when I make the shift. No excessive pressure on the trans while shifting. It works wonderful. Hope that helps.
