Found a Macan S on a dealers lot and snapped it up.
I bought a 991 911S a couple years ago from a large out of state dealer. I have really enjoyed the car. When I got the 911 I also got a Chevy Volt as my daily driver. The volt was a fun experiment but the fun wore thin quickly. Last winter in MI was COLD and I was dreading taking the volt through the winter. I called a local dealer a month ago asking if there was a Macan there for me to drive. He said no. I said when would there be one there for me to drive he said March. If I ordered on when would it be in. He said around December. I kind of moved on not wanting to buy a car I had not driven.
Thursday on a lark I send an email to the out of state salesman that sold me the 991 asking if they had any Macan's in stock. He said yes, someone had ordered on and they can not get them to reply to phone calls or emails. 2 hours before my email the sales manager came out and took the sold tag off the car and said sell it. I drove down the next day and went for a Ride. It is an S, Black on black with Premium plus, Bose, Cargo Management system , Park assist, Roof Rails, Sport Chrono, Infotainment. The only thing missing for me is the heated steering wheel.
It is being delivered this morning, should be fun.
I don't think the dealers story is BS, I think I just got lucky.

Got Lucky
I definitely got lucky. Dealer delivered it yesterday in a trailer. Even though I leased it I am letting it break in without beating on it too badly. I can tell there is power there, nothing crazy buy enough zip to make it fun and keep you out of trouble. It is nice to already understand the control layout. There is not much to learn or dive deep with, same as the 991.
My car has no handling upgrades and it seems to handle OK. Calling it sporty is questionable. Maybe I have to get used to it, you are sitting up high. My wife is driving a Q7 Diesel, that is my point of reference. It does ride very nice and is very quiet.
Good news is that my clubs fit in the back in a carry bag with no issue. I think a reasonable cart bag would fit as well.

Yeah PASM and preferably AS are a must to squeeze out its capabilities. Air suspension lowers it some as well. I was hoping to lease as well, but so far it seems like lease support is so non existent, purchasing makes more sense to me I guess.

Approaching 2,000 miles
I am approaching 2,000 miles and I thought I would make some rambling observations.
First the PDK does not perform and respond the same as my 991 911S. I would call it de-tuned. Shifts are not that aggressive. Shifts driving around normally are not as tight. In the 911 nursing it around town if you didn't hear the car shift you hardly would know. In the Macan you know. Nothing to complain about just an observation.
As stated earlier I have bone stock suspension. I would not call the handling sporty, not bad but not sporty. I would step up the suspension if you expect to go around turns aggressively.
It is quiet, very quiet. I have had several BMW's including a 750 IL as my last one and this is as quiet as anything I have driven. The lack of wind noise and noise in general is impressive.
The car is very comfortable, luxury for sure. I am enjoying it thoroughly.
It is reasonably fast, will keep you out of trouble for sure but nothing shocking. I did a launch control launch and it was impressive. All wheel drive definitely digs in and goes. I am not sure a sport SUV needs launch control but it is fun once in a while.
I never really liked the looks of the Cayenne, the front end never did it for me. I do really like the looks of the Macan. It was what I was looking for as far as size and styling.
Overall I am pleased with the car. I like the uniqueness, style and engineering. I am curious how it will go in the snow. Last year was brutal so I feel better going into it with all wheel drive.

I noticed something and checked it out thoroughly this morning. No matter where I set the ambient light % I see not change or said another way there are no ambient lights in my can. Foot wells are black, no door panel lights, nothing. Does anyone see anything different?

Does your car have the comfort lighting package? If not, that may be why you're not seeing anything. On mine, the difference at night is quite pronounced as I raise or lower the ambient lighting level.
One of your earlier posts mentioned some issues with the PDK. Mine doesn't behave at all like you describe; in normal (comfort) mode shifts are pretty much invisible except in a few cases when the start/stop system activates while rolling to a stop. If I drive more aggressively or when I put the car in sport or sport+, the shifts are lightning quick. Have you had the service department check yours out? Maybe there's a software update or something.
